​Success or Failure in life is determined in the mind. To do right or wrong is determined in the mind, life changing decisions, thoughts, actions and choices are made in the mind. The mind also has a crucial role to play whether one gets to heaven or not.

Daniel 1 vs. 8 " But Daniel purposed in his heart that he will not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor the wine with which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself "

Here in the above scripture we see a personal determination by Daniel in his mind not to defile himself but to please God. Our pleasing God or not is also determined in our minds. So we can see the mind as a very strong driving force in the right or wrong direction of life.
