CONTRARY TO HOPE HAVE HOPE (3)

Hi Dear Reader, It's a pleasure writing to you again as we have now finished the first month of the Year 2020 which you would agree with me is getting older every single day.

More than ever before as we are also moving closer to the coming back of Our Lord and Saviour every day, we who believe in the coming back of Jesus Christ need to daily build up our hope in God despite what we might be facing.

I want to continue with the next lines of scriptures from the last article by looking at 2 Kings 7 vs. 1 - end
" Then Elisha said, ' Hear the word of the LORD. Thus says the LORD: 'Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.' So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, 'Look, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?' And he said, ' In fact you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.'

Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, ' Why are we sitting here until we die? If we say, ' We will enter the city,' the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die.' And they rose at Twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they had come to the outskirts of the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one was there. For the Lord had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses - the noise of a great army, so they said to one another, ' Look, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us.' Therefore they arose and fled at twilight, and left the camp intact - their tents, their horses, and their donkeys - and they fled for their lives. In order to say one or to things on the above scriptures, I'm pausing after verse 7.

Above it is obvious that the situation of the famine in Samaria was so bad that all hopes seemed to have been lost. Even when a known prophet in the land like Elisha spoke, it didn't matter much, despite the fact that he started with " HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD". Things had gone so bad that it seemed as if the word of the LORD didn't matter, but hey - irrespective of circumstances, God's Word never changes.

Malachi 3 vs. 6 " For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob."

God does not change neither do His Words and He has the capacity and ability to do whatever He has said He will do by Himself with no assistance or help from anyone. The severe famine in the land made people forget these things about God. The same is still God's position today no matter how bad a situation is looking, God can still turn things around to favour you in the name of Jesus.

Isaiah 43 vs. 18 - 19 " Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert."

Please pause for a minute and imagine how difficult it is to make a road in the wilderness and to make rivers not a river but rivers in the desert.
Not making excuses for loss of hope, you can see why it is not at times difficult for people to disbelieve God.

I want to say that this unbelieving officer of the king, probably spoke the mind of the king and the entire people of Samaria except for FOUR LEPERS. This I can say because the bible does not record any word or action from any one apart from the four lepers who made a move even though they saw it as a very risky one, but at least they made a move. And there move was to the direction of the enemy which nobody in the city of Samaria including the king dare thought of.

The good LORD had actually, unknown to the people of Samaria made a way of escape for them and they had to hope and believe in God for this. I have heard the saying that as these four lepers took a step of faith, The Almighty God turned their foot steps into that of a mighty army which was what the Syrians heard in their camp and fled for their lives. To me it doesn't really matter if this is true or not, the important thing which we are told by the Bible is that God had caused them to hear the noise of chariots, noise of horses and a mighty army and so they fled.

I pray your enemies will hear a loud noise that will make them flee for their lives in the name of Jesus.

This article will be continued when next l write to you my Dear Reader, and remember keep your hope alive. GOD BLESS YOU.
